WHO CAN SERVE AS AN INTERN?
Each year, up to two (2) candidates will be selected to serve as USHP interns for a one-year term in an unpaid, volunteer capacity: Candidates must be in their 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an ACPE-accredited / candidate PharmD program, or technicians-in-training who are students of an ASHP-accredited / candidate pharmacy technician training program. Interns will be selected such that a variety of schools/programs are represented. Interns must reside in Utah and be active members of USHP. Previous interns must reapply each year.
WHY SHOULD I BECOME AN INTERN?
USHP Interns have the unique opportunity to learn the inner workings of a professional organization. Becoming an intern of an ASHP state affiliate can facilitate networking, learning, and serve as a bridge to future job or leadership opportunities at both the state and national level.
WHAT ARE THE EXPECTATIONS OF INTERNS?
- About 2 hours per week of service to USHP
- Attend annual USHP Strategic Planning Retreat
- Attend monthly USHP Board of Directors meetings
- Facilitate publication of USHP Newsletter in coordination with intern team, President-Elect, and Communications Committee
- Communicate regularly with members and committees to solicit for news content and education pieces pertinent to health-system pharmacy in Utah
